“The Lives We Choose” is one of my favorite projects I’ve heard all year. I’m a sucker for downtempo hip hop and electronic artists, and Kodiak Soul creates just this on his new EP. Atmospheric vocal chops and soft synths glisten over driving beats to create tracks that tickle my ears every time they come on. If you’re the kind of person who would rather chill out than rage, these tunes are meant for you. Throw them on at your next kick back and vibe out.
This is a nice addition if you’re lining up a summer playlist. Carter Reeves is tapping a groovy accessible sound. It’s got upbeat reggae along with rap and a little bit of everything else. Great to throw on for your friends who’re into pop or rock as well.
I noticed one of my favorite up and coming acts on the market (Slenderbodies) repost this on SC so thought I’d give it a spin and was happily impressed. This shit’s dope!
Welp Medasin took this joint to the next level. Props!
This kid DUX just dropped his new album on his website (click here). Listen to the lead single “Lady Of The Night” featuring Stan Taylor, it’s got so much soul.
Pluko’s locked in a cool feel on this one. It reminds me of wavey pop in combination with chill ambient music. Nevve is brought on for those crisp vocal melodies as well.
With Father’s Day right around the corner, THEY. return with a brand new single.
This one is a ton of fun. Bells and Robes are a new act to pop up on my radar in the past couple of months. Check out “Jackal and the Moon” it’s worth the listen.
“Karaoke” (feat. Lizzo) by Big Freedia is a huge banger. If you’re looking for a upbeat track to bounce at your pre-game to get you hype, blast this.
Maxence Cyrin’s superb cover of “Where Is My Mind” is part of a live mini-album packed full of a myriad of rock classics from Arcade Fire to Joy Divison. But, The Pixies cover of “Where Is My Mind” is definitely a standout. Check out this sonic stream of goodness.
